Highlights include:

  • In conjunction with two joint-venture partners and spread out over a 15-year period, Panzica Construction Company provided construction management services to the State of Ohio for Akron Public Schools in varying degrees of renovation, restoration and new construction for elementary, middle and high school buildings.
  • The Akron Public Schools Master Facility Plan called for all buildings to become “Community Learning Centers” and be used as schools during the day and community centers at night.
  • The combined construction value of over $750 million is the largest construction endeavor in the history of Akron.  It will provided hundreds of jobs and generated more than $800 million in the local community.
  • Working with local organizations and programs, much emphasis was  put on socially and economically disadvantaged business enterprises using the terminology “EDGE” (Encouraging Diversity, Growth and Equity).
  • Nineteen buildings are designed to LEED standards with the goal of achieving Silver Certification. The National Inventors Hall of Fame School was the first to achieve LEED Silver certification.
